Care Ltd is committed to having an experienced, trained
staff group working in all its establishments.
Training and Development
To support our business objectives we have set the following aims for our training & development activity :
- To demonstrate progress toward government targets set for minimum percentage of qualified care staff
- To secure through partnership working government funding to subsidise the training investment required to meet our
- To achieve a 100% increase in the number of care staff qualified to at least NVQ Level 3.
- To deliver induction & foundation training in-house for all new staff that meets the requirements of the SfC Induction Award.
- To ensure all new unqualified care staffs are placed on a NVQ Level 3 programme of training within 6 months of employment.
- To ensure all staff receive training in First Aid, Food and Hygiene, Health and Safety.
- To ensure the appropriate amount of staff achieves their NVQ level 3 in childcare.
- To ensure the appropriate amount of staff achieves their NVQ level 3 in childcare.
- To ensure all staff receive training in administration of medications and control and restraint.

Our training & development activity is driven by our Workforce Development Plan.
In-House Training
Raleigh Care Ltd provides in-house training for its entire staff. This covers the following topics: Induction; Supervision; the Childcare Legislation; Child Protection; Working with Adolescents; Issues of Sexuality; Food Handling/Diet; Health & Safety; Team Working; Key Working; Policies and Procedures; Fire Safety; Diversity Training; Control & Restraint; Care Planning and Report Writing. Training takes place once a month on third Friday. The aim is to stimulate and aid staff thinking as well as increase their knowledge base. Training is organised on a series of topics drawn from a main theme with `key' ideas on each. There will be exercises and role-plays to assist understanding and to relate the ideas to practical experience.
Training Provision & Funding
All accredited training will be delivered through approved training providers.
We will access funding for accredited training will be sourced from appropriate funding avenues.
We will allocate our in-house training budget to pay for training that we cannot secure external funding for.
Educational Assistance
Raleigh Care Ltd recognizes that the skills and knowledge of its employees are critical to the success of the Company. Raleigh Care Ltd supports staff engaging in educational programmes and activities to aid personal development, improve job-related skills and enhancing an employee's ability to compete for reasonably attainable jobs in the Company.
NVQ Training
Raleigh Care Ltd recognizes the value of professional development and personal growth for employees. Therefore, Raleigh Care Ltd encourages its employees who are interested in continuing education and job specific training to research these further and get approval before signing up for the seminars or courses.
While it is our ideal to attract experienced, qualified staff this is not always possible, therefore we offer comprehensive training for suitable, inexperienced candidates.
For staff attending NVQ courses Raleigh Care Ltd will pay the course fees and facilitate staff attending the course.
Staff are required to give a written undertaking to work for Raleigh Care Ltd for a period of two (2) years on completion of the course.

Study Time
Depending upon the exigencies of the home staff will be granted time off for study. This time will be unpaid.
